I will call you 'Gupto' a thousand times every day: Chhatra Dal General Secretary

The Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) held a protest rally at the city's New Market intersection on Wednesday afternoon (April 22) to protest the bloody clash between JCD and Shibir over graffiti at Chattogram Government City College.

At the rally, the organization's Central General Secretary, Nasir Uddin, issued a stern warning, stating that no form of "secret politics" (gupt o-rajniti) would be allowed in any educational institution in Bangladesh in the future, and that politics must be practiced openly and transparently.

Condemning the clash sparked by erasing the word "Student" and replacing it with "Secret" (Gupta) in the college wall graffiti, he added that a counter-graffiti could have been painted if there were differences of opinion, but by launching an attack, Shibir has manifested its old "terrorist" character.

It is noteworthy that at least 20 people from both sides were injured in two rounds of clashes triggered by the graffiti dispute last Monday; top leaders from Chattogram University and the North and South District units of Chhatra Dal were present at this protest rally.
