Zero tolerance against drugs: DIG


Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Dhaka range, Habibur Rahman  said on Monday members of the police have adopted zero tolerance against drug peddling and a rehabilitation center for the drug addicts would soon be set up in each district of the country.

“Only Police cannot uproot the tremendous danger of drugs from the society, raising of massive awareness is a must and respective family of the drug addicts should also come forward to contain the menace “ the DIG asserted.

The DIG said this at a gathering while visiting the proposed site of the Drug Rehabilitation Center at Charpakshia village of Bhararia union under Manikganj sadar upazila of the district.

Three villagers Delwara Begum, wife of Jalil Sikder, Fazlul Huq and Abul Khayer have already donated 82.5 decimal of land for the rehabilitation center with the motivational initiative of Superintendent of Police, Rifat Rahman Shamim, former Officer in Charge of Manikganj Sadar Police Station Rokibuzzaman and Chairman of Bhararia union Abdul Kader.

Later, DIG handed crest over to the donors of the land on behalf of Police.

Superintendent of Police also Project Director, of Drug Rehabilitation Centre; Shahidul Islam , and Executive Engineer of the Water Development Board, Manikganj Mainudding among others were present on the occasion.
