The government is working to export fish abroad: State Minister Tuku
State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku announced on Saturday, April 4, that the government is working to boost domestic fish production both to satisfy local demand and to expand exports.
During a visit to the Raipur Government Fish Breeding and Training Center, he urged fishermen to refrain from catching Hilsa for two months to ensure future yields, emphasizing that this sacrifice would directly benefit their income through larger catches later.
The State Minister highlighted that under the direction of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government is implementing a 24,000-crore BDT assistance project to provide food and family cards to 40,000 fishing families, while also correcting previous inconsistencies in beneficiary lists.
Criticizing the corruption of the previous administration, Tuku reaffirmed the current government's commitment to transparency, vowing that no genuine fisherman will be deprived of aid and that zero tolerance will be shown toward any form of embezzlement in the distribution process.
