12,543 private hospitals apply for licence renewal: DGHS

The Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) has informed the High Court (HC) that 12,543 private hospitals and diagnostic centers across the country have applied for licence renewal.

Deputy Attorney General Amit Dasgupta placed the DGHS report on Wednesday before the HC bench of Justice Tariq ul Hakim and Justice SM Kuddus Zaman during a virtual hearing on the petition filed by Children's Charity Bangladesh Foundation seeking necessary orders.

In the statement, the DGHS said the health ministry has published information about the numbers of Covid-19 hospitals and non-Covid-19 hospitals on its official website.

Earlier on July 26, the High Court sought information for publishing list of Covid-19 dedicated hospitals and private hospitals and diagnostic centers with appropriate licences.
