9 children die from measles and symptoms


Bangladesh is facing a severe measles outbreak, with 9 more children dying from the disease and its symptoms in the last 24 hours.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) report released on Saturday, May 9, 2026, a total of 352 children have lost their lives since March 15.

Within the last 24 hours, 1,435 new cases were reported, including 489 confirmed cases. Total confirmed infections have now reached 6,989, while over 47,000 children have sought hospital care for symptoms.

Health officials are urging parents to be vigilant and ensure timely medical intervention as the death toll continues to rise.
