Two-day SCBA election begins

The two-day annual election of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) began on Wednesday.

The voting began at 10 am and will continue till 5pm with a one-hour break on Wednesday. The balloting will resume on 10 am Thursday and continue till 5pm, said convener of SCBA election conducting committee AY Mashiuzzaman.

A total of 6,152 registered voters can cast their votes to elect the 14-member new executive committee of the apex court bar for 2018-19 period.

Awami League Advisory Council Member Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun is vying for the president post from a panel backed by Awami League-led alliance while BNP Vice-chairman Advocate Joynul Abedin from the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parisad (JAOP) backed by the BNP-Jamaat alliance.
