Bhola would be most developed district: Tofail

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed on Saturday expressed his hope that Bhola will be one of the country's most developed districts in coming days as more industries and factories will be established here based on gas fields.

"In future, Bhola will be the most developed district. Availing the opportunities of gas fields in the district, different factories and industries will be set up to create employment opportunities for unemployed youths," he told a women rally at Bangla School ground this afternoon in Bhola.

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki addressed the function as the guest of honor with Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Masud Alam Siddique in the chair.

Tofail said entrepreneurs have started looking for land in the district to set up various industrial units, including readymade garments (RMG) and fertilizers. Construction work of a ceramic industry here at a cost of around Taka 500 crore is progressing, he added.

The minister identified river erosion and lack of developed road communication as major problems of the district and said the government has mapped out an extensive measure to prevent river erosion.

He also said construction of the Bhola-Barishal bridge will begin soon to develop road communications of Bhola with other districts.

When constructed, the bridge would link Bhola with Barishal easing communication system, he observed.
