Appoint receiver to manage Beximco’s all assets: HC

The High Court (HC) on Thursday in the full text of an order has directed the Bangladesh Bank to appoint a receiver to manage the companies of Beximco Group and attach all the properties belonging to the companies.

The High Court bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Muhammad Mahbub Ul Islam placed the three-page full text of order.

The court also ordered the central bank to recover the money obtained by Salman F Rahman, founder of Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited, from different banks and bring the money back to Bangladesh from abroad.

In addition to the appointment of a receiver, the court has issued a rule asking why Bangladesh Bank should not be instructed to provide details of the outstanding loans owed by Beximco’s various entities.

The court also seeks clarification on any irregular facilities granted to Beximco in the repayment of these loans.

The writ petition was presented by advocate Masood R Sobhan on behalf of the petitioners.

Deputy Attorney General Redwan Ahmed Ranjib and Assistant Attorney General Mujahidul Islam Shaheen represented the state during the hearing.
