Condition of 25 injured children critical: Physicians


The children who are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals with 60 to 70 percent burn injuries are stated to be in critical condition, according to the attending physicians of hospitals.

At least 20 people, including the pilot, were killed and 171 injured after a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) FT-7 BGI fighter aircraft crashed into a building of Milestone School and College in the Uttara area of Dhaka on Monday.

Out of the 171 victims, the condition of 25 who are now being treated for burn injuries at various hospitals is reported to be critical, according to the attending physicians of the hospitals.

Earlier in the day, the Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training aircraft crashed minutes after it took off from AK Khandaker base at Kurmitola around 1:06 pm due to a technical glitch, according to the ISPR.

According to the spokesperson of the Milestone School and College, the aircraft crashed near the school gate while classes were underway.

The plane fell on the gate of the educational institution and crashed nearby when a class was in session. The injured were being taken out one by one to save their lives.

Soon after the accident, condolences poured in from various local and international organisations and missions, mourning the loss of the lives of the children and others.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin, Chief Adviser Prof Mohammad Yunus, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, diplomats of local missions and high commissions of different countries also expressed their deep condolences and extended sympathy to the victims’ family members.
