Journalist comes under attack at Martyred Intellectuals Memorial

An attack on a journalist was reported at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur of the capital on Sunday, with video footage of the incident spreading rapidly on social media.

The video shows a young man running towards a journalist, grabbing him by the arm and forcefully throwing him to the ground. As the assailant attempted to flee the scene, police personnel present at the memorial intervened and detained him.

Tensions escalated briefly as members of the public tried to assault the attacker, but police prevented further violence and brought the situation under control.

Earlier in the morning, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser of the interim government Dr Muhammad Yunus paid tributes to the martyred intellectuals at the memorial.
