Hadi admitted to Singapore General Hospital
Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inqilab Moncho, has been admitted to Singapore General Hospital after being flown to the country for treatment.
Dr Abdul Ahad, a neurosurgeon at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and part of the team that performed Hadi’s initial surgery, confirmed the matter to journalists on Monday evening.
The air ambulance carrying Hadi reached Changi Airport around 6:30pm (Bangladesh time). His two brothers accompanied him on the journey to Singapore.
Earlier, this air ambulance landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after 11:00am. Later, the air ambulance carrying Hadi departed from the airport at 1:55pm, HSIA Executive Director SM Ragib Samad confirmed.
Govt to cover Hadi’s medical expenses abroad: Finance Adviser
The government will bear all costs associated with the overseas treatment of Osman Hadi, a gunshot victim and potential independent candidate for Dhaka-8, according to Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed.
Saleh Ahmed made the announcement while speaking to journalists after a meeting of the Government Procurement Advisory Council Committee on Monday.
He described the country’s political environment as “satisfactory” and “set to become even more stable,” assuring that all expenses required for Hadi’s treatment abroad will be provided by the Ministry of Finance
One of the leaders of the July Uprising and a prospective independent candidate for the upcoming national election from Dhaka-8, Hadi was shot and critically injured on Box Culvert Road in the capital’s Paltan area on 12 December.
He sustained bullet injuries to the head and was initially taken to DMCH, where he underwent surgery, before being transferred to Evercare Hospital later that night. Doctors said his condition remains “critical”.
