Decision to close all shops and shopping malls across the country by 8 PM

On Thursday (April 2), the Bangladesh Shop Owners' Association, in collaboration with the Dhaka Metropolitan Shop Owners' Association, announced that all shops, markets, and shopping malls across the country must close by 8:00 PM to conserve electricity and fuel.

This strategic decision aims to support the government amidst the ongoing international energy crisis. Association President Nazmul Hasan Mahmud confirmed that while the notice was issued today, full compliance is expected starting Friday.

However, essential services including hotels, pharmacies, and raw produce markets (Kachabazar) are exempt from this restriction.

This move follows a series of national energy rationing measures as the country grapples with dwindling fuel reserves exacerbated by the Middle East conflict.
