We will not sit silently if the country suffers damage: Jamaat Amir

The Leader of the Opposition and Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, returned to Dhaka on Saturday, May 9, 2026, after visiting Japan and injured protesters in Thailand.

He stated that while his party will support the government's positive initiatives, they will not remain silent if the country's interests are harmed and will build resistance if necessary.

During his Japan visit, he urged the Japanese government to establish a specialized cancer institute in Bangladesh, a proposal he said is being actively considered.

He also spent time in Bangkok with 64 injured individuals from the July uprising, ensuring they receive the best possible medical care and praising their immense sacrifice for the nation.
