2 female 'militants' surrender at Narsingdi den

Two female ‘militants’ surrendered in response to the request of law enforcers on the second day of the ‘Gordian Knot’ operation at the another ‘militant den’ at Gangpar in Madhabdi municipality area of Narsingdi on Wednesday.

The detainees were identified as Khadiza Akhter Meghna, 25, and Mou, 20, who are students of Manarat International University, police said.

They were taken out of the building in an ambulance of Narsingdi fire service around 2:35 pm and now they are being taken to Dhaka.

Meanwhile, two blasts were heard at 2:50pm and 2:58pm in the building when Monirul was briefing the journalists.

Both of them were arrested on August 2017 in a case filed with Mirpur Model Police Station over the Holey Artisan bakery attack in Dhaka's Gulshan, Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit Chief Monirul Islam told journalists at a briefing after their surrender.

Earlier, the law enforcers asked them several times over loudspeakers to surrender.

CTTC members in association with the local police surrounded the building of owned by Afzal Haji since Monday night.

Earlier, members of CTTC unit and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) conducted an operation at a ‘militant den’ in a five-story building at Bhogiratpur on Tuesday afternoon and recovered the bodies of two suspected militants.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Dhaka Range Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun was also present.
