In Old Dhaka’s Hazaribagh, the Dhakabashi Eid Joy Rally

As in previous years, the traditional Dhakabashi organization, along with Friends Club of Los Angeles, organized the “Traditional Eid Joy Procession and Rally” on the day after Eid-ul-Fitr. The event took place at Iman Ali Road in Hazaribagh, starting from the premises of Fatema L College.

This year’s rally was dedicated in honor of the legendary badminton player Aminul Islam Ustad.

Children, teenagers, and young people participated in the procession, featuring traditional musical instruments of Old Dhaka, creative costumes, balloons, and festoons.

The rally was inaugurated by the founder of Friends Club of Los Angeles and prominent sports organizer, Mr. Saiful Alam Babu. The chief guest was Mr. Zakariyul Islam Swapan, former national badminton champion. Special guests included Canada-based former Commonwealth Youth Program (CYP) ambassador and youth organizer Mr. Hasan Zaman, and distinguished social worker Mr. Muhammad Nurus Saba.

Also present were Lutfur Ahsan Babu, convener of the Dhakabashi metropolitan committee; Sheikh Khoda Box, general secretary of Dhakabashi; advisor Azfaruzzaman Sohrab; and Dhakabashi’s international secretary Sakir Salek. Additionally, Dhakabashi founding president Md. Shukur Salek and Canada-based Mr. Nurul Islam joined via video conference.

Further more, since 1990, Dhakabashi has been consistently organizing this Eid joy procession.

Speakers stated that this rally has created a gathering and a bridge between the people of Old Dhaka and New Dhaka.
They further added that this initiative aims to introduce the younger generation to this fading tradition of Eid celebrations
