CDA, Army to start TK 5616 crore 1st mega project Monday

The implementation of Taka 5616 crores mega project of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) with a view to mitigating city's water logging problem at last comes to light.

CDA is going to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with engineering corps of Bangladesh army on Monday titled "re-excavation of cannels, expansion, renovation and development" at city's Radisson Blue.

After signing of the ceremony, CDA will acquire the land and Bangladesh Army will execute the project.

"Primarily 36 khals (canals) within the city areas will be re-excavated and increasing depth of cannels, construction of sluice gates and pump house on the estuary of 5 canals, procurement of necessary equipments and appointment of consultant firm are also included in the project," Abdus Salam said.

CDA formulated the mega project for resolving the prolonged water logging problems following directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, CDA Chairman said.
