Continue operation to keep wheel of economy running, Yunus to RMG owners

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has called upon the readymade garment (RMG) factory owners to continue their operation to keep the wheel of the economy running

The chief adviser of the interim government made the call while addressing the nation on Wednesday evening.

Underscoring the need for talks between owners and workers, he said that the RMG owners are being forced to close their factories due to the workers' unrest.

Unrest in the RMG and medicine industry will create a negative impact on the national economy and thus it is not expected in any circumstances, he said.

The chief adviser came up with the call when around 45 garment factories in Ashulia industrial area have been closed and 60 others have declared a general holiday from Wednesday.

It is his third address to the nation since his appointment as the chief adviser to the interim government.

Bangladesh Television, BTV World and BTV Chittagong and private television channels broadcasted his address simultaneously.
