1581 killed in July-August mass uprising: Health sub-committee

Central health sub-committee, formed by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has compiled a preliminary list of 1,581 casualties from the July-August mass uprising.

The list was presented at a press conference held at Dhaka University's TSC auditorium on Saturday.

The sub-committee, in collaboration with the National Citizens' Committee, has been working to verify the information. However, the exact number of casualties is still subject to change, according to the committee.

Tarequl Islam, the joint secretary of the health sub-committee, stated that the preliminary list has been sent to district administrations for verification. Once verified, the final list will be submitted to the Ministry of Health.

The press conference also revealed that organisations such as As-Sunnah Foundation, Human Rights Support Society, and Red July have assisted in compiling the list. Additionally, numerous individuals from local communities have provided information to aid in the process.

Farhad Alam Bhuiyan, a member of the National Citizens' Committee, emphasised that the list is still under construction and not final. The final list will be released at a later date.

When asked about the number of injured individuals, Tarequl Islam responded that the committee has received information about over 31,000 injured people. However, this data is still being verified and the final number is expected to be higher.
