Yunus meets world leaders at COP29


Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and First Lady Emine Erdogan on Tuesday on the sidelines of the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

Erdogan invited Yunus to visit Turkey and assured Bangladesh of all possible support in its efforts to implement deep reforms and build a prosperous future.

Yunus also extended an invitation to the Turkish first couple to visit Bangladesh soon.

In addition, Yunus met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, Bosnian President Denis Becirovic, Liechtenstein Prime Minister Daniel Risch, Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic, Brazil’s Environment Minister Marina Silva, and Iran’s Vice President Shina Ansari. 

During his meetings, Prof Yunus exchanged pleasantries with the presidents and premiers.

Yunus is currently on a four-day official visit to Baku to attend the global climate summit. He arrived in Baku on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at around 5:15 pm local time on Monday. He will participate in various sessions of COP29 and speak at several side events.
