BGB-BSF TalksBangladesh urges India to end border killings

As the biennial DG-level talks between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and India’s Border Security Force (BSF) entered their second day, the Bangladesh delegation once again pressed for an immediate end to border killings.

The 55th director general-level meeting, the first official engagement in Delhi since the fall of the Hasina administration on August 5, focused on border security, cross-border crimes, and the long-standing demand to prevent fatal incidents along the frontier.

According to sources familiar with the discussions, Bangladesh reaffirmed that while it supports legal action against border violators, the use of lethal force remains unacceptable.

A high-level delegation of the BGB reached New Delhi 17 February for the DG level talks with the BSF over some contemporary issues.

The talks took place between 18 February and 20 February and it is the first such meeting for talks after the Sheikh Hasina-led government was ousted from power on 5 August 2024.
