March for Gaza: Dhaka turns into city of procession

The capital, Dhaka, turned into a city of procession on Saturday as people from all walks of life took to the streets, holding processions from every nook and corner to join the March for Gaza rally, scheduled to be held at Suhrawardy Udyan in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Meanwhile, the historic Suhrawardy Udyan teemed with millions, their voices united in a powerful call to end Israel’s ongoing atrocities in Palestine.

Palestine Solidarity Movement Bangladesh created a Facebook event titled 'March for Gaza.' Protesters were instructed to enter the rally venue through Manglamotor, Ramna Gate, Kakrail, Zero Point, TSC Gate, Bakshibazar, and Nilkhet.

While visiting the area, it was witnessed that the vascular movement came to a complete halt at the city’s busiest intersection, Shahbagh, as thousands of people were seen walking on their feet to voluntarily join the rally.

Meanwhile, thousands of people were seen at Farmgate intersection, marching towards Suhrawardy Udyan by various modes of transport, holding placards, posters, and festoons and chanting slogans against the barbaric attacks on Gaza.

Many of them were seen marching towards the meeting place on foot in processions due to the scarcity of available vehicles, disrupting the traffic rules in and around the thoroughfares.

However, no international organisations such as the United Nations or the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have yet taken any effective move to halt the war.

Israel launched its war on Gaza in October 2023 and killed 50,800 Palestinians as of last Wednesday, Al Jazeera reports, quoting Palestinian authorities.
