Palestinians know major aid coming from Bangladeshi people: Envoy

Palestine Ambassador to Bangladesh Yousef SY Ramadan meets Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State House Jamuna, Dhaka on Sunday

The Palestinians are “truly grateful” to Bangladeshi people for the donations being sent for food and medicine in Gaza and other impoverished areas, Palestine Ambassador Yousef SY Ramadan said on Sunday.

“The Government of Bangladesh has [also] extended great support to Palestine,” he said during a meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State House Jamuna in Dhaka.

Chief Adviser Prof Yunus reaffirmed Bangladesh’s solidarity with Palestine. “Our people stand with you. The government will continue its support,” he said.

Prof Yunus also expressed hope for the official recognition of Palestinian sovereignty by more countries in the coming days and execution of the ultimate goal of a two-state solution.

Ambassador Ramadan also expressed his support for the Interim Government and wished it every success.

Mentioning the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the ambassador said, "There is no food, no medicine [there]. Children are the main victims."

Ramadan thanked the Bangladesh government for joining other Muslim countries to condemn the “Greater Israel” map recently unveiled by the Israeli prime minister.

The ambassador requested the Bangladesh authorities to consider importing more Palestinian products to Bangladesh.

He expressed profound gratitude to the people of Bangladesh for their continued support.
