Offers prayer for Khaleda Zia's recoverySpecial meeting of Advisory Council held


A special meeting of the Advisory Council was held at the Chief Adviser’s Office (CAO) in the city’s Tejgaon area on Saturday this morning.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus presided over the meeting, said Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.

During the meeting, prayers were offered for the speedy recovery of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain led the prayers.

At the meeting, the draft Foreign Donations (Voluntary Activities) Regulation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 was approved both in principle and finally. This amendment has brought changes to several sections of the existing law, simplified NGO registration rules, and eased the conditions for the release of funds. From now on, donations of up to Tk50 lakh taka per year will no longer require approval. The law has been made more stakeholder-friendly.

Additionally, the draft Police Commission Ordinance, 2025 was presented at the meeting. The Advisory Council has directed that the ordinance be presented in greater detail and in amended form at the next council meeting.

At the meeting, Expatriate Welfare Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul informed the Advisory Council about the imminent release of the remaining 24 individuals who were detained at various times in connection with their alleged participation in the July uprising in the UAE. He said that they are expected to return to the country within two to three days.
