Outbreak of winter10 people die in Jessore in 24hrs


The outbreak of winter is increasing in Jessore. And in winter, 10 people died in one day at Sadar Hospital due to various cold-related diseases. Their ages ranged from 55 to 70 years. All of them were suffering from various cold-related problems, doctors said.

Jobair Ahmed, a doctor at the emergency department of Jessore General Hospital, confirmed this information on Friday (January 9) morning.

He said, "In the last 24 hours, 10 people have died due to cold and lung infection. We have been seeing a high death rate recently and in this case, the number of deaths is increasing at a much higher rate due to the high prevalence of cold. The mortality rate is higher among the elderly."

He also said that the mortality rate among the elderly is higher due to lung infections and other complications. In this situation, his advice is to take as much precautions as possible when it comes to colds, whether indoors or outdoors. One should take as much precautions as possible when moving outside and be vigilant to prevent the causes of lung infections.

According to the General Hospital, in the last 24 hours, 290 patients have been admitted to the 250-bed Jessore General Hospital with various cold-related diseases. Out of which, more than 100 patients have come with cold-related problems. Out of these, 54 are children.

Shamsuzzaman, son of the deceased Munshi Mohiuddin, said that his father was having difficulty breathing due to cold. He was brought to the hospital around 6 am. Doctors examined him and declared him dead. He died before he was brought to the hospital.

Abdullah Al Mamun, son of the late Sheikh Sadrul Alam, said that his father had a heart problem. In addition, he became more ill in the severe cold of the past few days. When he was taken to the hospital last night, the doctor declared him dead.

Sheikh Mamun, son of the deceased Monira Khatun, said, "My mother is 64 years old. She was sick for 10 days due to a severe cold. She was taken to Jessore General Hospital in a serious condition last night due to difficulty breathing. At that time, the doctor declared her dead."

A 65-year-old former teacher named Umme Hani died next to Mamun's house. Her son Boni said that his mother had been suffering from cold-related problems for a week. She was admitted to the ICU of Jessore General Hospital. Doctors said that her lungs were infected and oxygen was not reaching her brain. That is why she died.

Halima Begum, a relative of a patient admitted to the children's ward of Jessore General Hospital, said, "My son is 5 months old. Due to the severe cold of the last few days, his son has a cold and fever. He has been admitted to the hospital for four days. The boy is now somewhat healthy."

Another person named Najma said, "My son has pneumonia due to a cold due to the winter. I have been hospitalized for three days."

Local sources said that the mild cold wave and icy winds that have been blowing for the past few days have disrupted the lives of the common people of Jessore. The cold wave is now at its peak in Jessore as the wind intensity has increased along with dense fog. The lowest temperature recorded in the district in the morning was 9.6 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Office, the temperature in Jessore has been fluctuating between 7 and 10 degrees Celsius for the past few days. The sun is not visible most of the day. Along with this, the cold wind from the north has increased the intensity of the winter several times.

In this situation, various cold-related diseases are increasing across the district. Especially children and the elderly are suffering from respiratory problems, pneumonia and diarrhea. As a result, the number of patients in hospitals is increasing.
