Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the canal excavation program in 54 districts

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to inaugurate a nationwide canal excavation program across 54 districts today, Monday (March 16), starting with the Sahapara Canal in Kaharole, Dinajpur.

The ambitious project aims to excavate 1,200 kilometers of waterways in the first six months, with a long-term goal of 20,000 kilometers over the next five years.

Following the inauguration at 11:30 AM, the Prime Minister will distribute livestock to the underprivileged and address a public rally.

His schedule also includes visiting ancestral graves in the afternoon and attending a civic gathering followed by an Iftar and Dua Mahfil at Gor-e-Shahid Baro Maidan before returning to Dhaka in the evening.
