No significant increase in fares has been observed during the Eid travel rush: Road Minister

Minister of Road Transport, Bridges, Railways, and Shipping, Sheikh Rabiul Alam, stated on Monday (March 16) that Eid-ul-Fitr travel remains disciplined, with no reports of overcharging at Dhaka's bus terminals.

After visiting the Mohakhali Bus Terminal, the Minister noted that some operators are even charging 20 to 50 BDT less than the fixed fare to accommodate passengers.

To handle the expected surge in travelers starting this afternoon, additional buses have been kept ready, and coordinated efforts are in place to prevent traffic congestion on the main roads.

He further assured that unfit vehicles would not be allowed on the highways, adequate fuel supplies have been secured, and there will be no increase in fuel prices during the festive period.
