There will be no 'Blackout' program in memory of the night of March 25

The previously announced one-minute symbolic 'Blackout' program to commemorate the victims of the March 25, 1971 genocide has been canceled. Although the government initially scheduled the nationwide blackout for Wednesday from 10:30 PM to 10:31 PM, the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs issued a statement late Tuesday night announcing that the program would not be observed. No specific reason was provided for this sudden change in decision. In recent years, Bangladesh has traditionally marked the start of "Operation Searchlight" with a symbolic blackout and candlelight vigils to honor those martyred on this dark night, which is officially recognized as National Genocide Day.
