There is no fuel oil crisis in the country, the main problem is fear of demand: Zahedur Rahman

Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, the Prime Minister's Information and Broadcasting Advisor, stated on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, that Bangladesh currently has a stock of over 122,000 metric tons of diesel, refuting claims of a major fuel crisis.

Speaking at the Secretariat, he attributed the current situation to "panic buying" and "illegal hoarding" by businesses. Addressing the government's recent 73,000 crore BDT bank loan, he noted that while it impacts the economy, the situation has not yet reached a critical stage.

Additionally, he shared plans to establish night markets in eight locations to relocate hawkers and announced a government initiative to celebrate Pahela Baishakh regionally with neighboring countries like India and Myanmar next year.
