Hamid made president for 2nd consecutive term

President Abdul Hamid has been re-elected for the country’s highest office uncontested on Wednesday.

 

As the tenure of the President came to an end, the Awami League government nominated Abdul Hamid for his second term of presidency.

He was elected uncontested as there were no other candidates in the race.

The President holds executive powers and is the supreme commander of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The President is also responsible for appointing the Supreme Court’s Chief Justice.

Abdul Hamid was elected President after back in 2013 after then President Zillur Rahman passed away.
