BNP lags behind on election issue
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is now on the verge of a new transformation. Building the party as a disciplined, ideology-based and modern political organization is the biggest demand of the time. But some unscrupulous people who are incompetent, corrupt, extortionist, usurper, and position-trading have infiltrated the party for a long time. They are not only tarnishing the image of the party but are also destroying the trust of the people. The demand of the time is to quickly expel them from the party.
The real strength of a political party is its workers. They are the ones who stand up in the voting field. These workers are the ones who stand in front of the sticks in the procession. They carry the ideals in their hearts and give their lives if necessary. The important thing is that without workers, the party and the leadership are empty.
After August 5, the BNP's loyal leaders and activists have left the party. Hybrids and opportunists have taken a place in the party. Some of the party's high command's Raghav Boal leaders are responsible for this. This is not limited to Dhaka alone, but BNP's top leaders at the divisional and district levels have also taken advantage of the opportunity. One of the reasons for this is the occupation trade and litigation. In addition, opportunists are very skilled in extortion. Using them, many leaders have now engaged in occupation trade and extortion. Those who used to have difficulty eating rice now drive expensive cars. Even if the party gets a bad name because of these reasons, they don't care. They need to grab money by any means.
The upcoming parliamentary elections will determine the future of the nation. Therefore, the people's expectation is to exclude from the nomination those who have forgotten the 19-point agenda of martyred President Zia, did not accept the 31-point agenda announced by Tarique Rahman, and have forgotten the ideals of Begum Khaleda Zia.
BNP must remember that voters are no longer blind. They want educated, polite, elegant, idealistic, corruption-free, worker-friendly leadership. On the other hand, the demands of the time of the defectors are clear. They want a party cleansing campaign, worker-friendly policies, idealistic leadership, and public welfare-oriented programs. On this path, BNP will once again become an organization of the hearts of the people.
Now the strong slogan within the party is - "The strength of the worker, the life of the ideology, let the honor of BNP awaken in the purification campaign." "The party is not the occupier, BNP will be the right of the worker."
Those who have fought against the Awami League in the last 15 years, hidden in fields, fields, and fields, served time in jail, and were beaten; now is the time to evaluate them. No one except the victims has the ability to understand the extent of torture and oppression that party leaders and activists across the country have been subjected to.
During the Awami League government, the administration did not stop at filing cases against millions of leaders and activists of the BNP and its various affiliates. Some are having their nails removed, some have bruises all over their bodies that have not yet healed. Many have gone to jail for their agitation for the party and have not gotten married, many have not been able to study. Some have not been able to meet their wives, children, parents and relatives for the last time or express their feelings. They have sacrificed their lives for the party. Numerous leaders and activists, including Chowdhury Alam and Ilias Hossain, one of the leaders of the BNP, have not yet been found. No one knows whether they are dead or alive. Their families have become destitute. However, those who have not been scratched for the last 15 years have now come flying in.
Meanwhile, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has announced that the party will be reformed by December, and hybrids and extortionists will be freed. He urged everyone to come forward to reform the party. Tarique Rahman requested everyone to remain united in support of any decision of the party. Since August 5 last year, he has been giving a message to the leaders and activists to hold on to BNP. But Tarique Rahman's warning has not been very effective.
Barrister Jayma Rahman, the worthy daughter of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, has sent a message to leaders and activists in her Facebook post that they should find and evaluate the activist who went to the program with empty pockets and left his shoes on the street without eating all day.
He said, "There is no need to make the party heavy with hybrids, learn to walk alone. For 17 years, we were alone. From now on, my father has declared zero tolerance. If anyone is involved in any crime, he will be expelled from the party and legal action will be taken."
Jamaat's policies and differences with BNP
It may seem to BNP that Jamaat is busy with PR. This is not the case. They are playing a game with PR. Apart from this, Jamaat is currently preparing for the elections on a full scale. Their IT team is working on a separate network for each district outside Dhaka. This includes Facebook pages and TikTok accounts. These accounts have been created targeting those districts and the audience of the districts.
They are thoroughly analyzing the potential candidates for each seat. Whether there is any womanizing scandal in their name, whether there is anything in the name of their family members, how much debt they have in which bank. Not only that, they are trying to collect the income tax files of the potential candidates. BNP cannot even imagine the terrible smear campaign that will be launched before the elections.
Jamaat is gathering its voters in one place. It has registered a significant number of party voters in the constituency from which the Jamaat Ameer will contest in Dhaka. In addition, many have changed their addresses and made them voters of that constituency. Through this, efforts are being made to make the Jamaat Ameer win the election from that constituency. Jamaat is applying this same policy in other constituencies they have targeted.
Jamaat is moving ahead with a plan to go door to door to voters before the election campaign begins. The elders who were pro-BNP at the district and local levels are being repeatedly knocked out. They have taken control of the mosques. At the local level, BNP was the most active in filing cases and stopping processions in the name of Awami League. Now the leaders, workers and supporters of this league have become Jamaat overnight. This policy of Jamaat to be soft on the League is now working.
After August 5 last year, Jamaat Bangladesh has installed its own people in the Secretariat, Election Commission office, universities, schools-colleges, government offices-courts and all levels of administration. On the contrary, BNP could not do so. BNP is far behind in this regard too. In addition, Jamaat has launched various allegations against BNP. Social media is also under the control of Jamaat. In addition, Jamaat and Awami League allies control most of the media. In other words, BNP's media is very weak. That is why BNP's media coverage is proportionally lower than that of other political parties. The party's policymakers and media cell are largely indifferent to these issues.
Political analysts said that recently a message was sent from a special place in New York. There, Dr. Yunus was advised to limit his movements in New York and was informed that he may face "unpleasant" situations. Because on the occasion of Yunus' visit, the Awami League is mobilizing its workers from all over to New York. At the same time, some Bengalis from West Bengal are also being hired there.
On the other hand, a high-level meeting titled 'High Level Conference on the Situation of Rohingya Muslims and Other Minorities in Myanmar' will be held in New York on September 30 under the chairmanship of the President of the United Nations General Assembly. This is the first time that such a high-level meeting has been organized in the United Nations General Assembly focusing on the Rohingya crisis. There is a possibility of some sideline meetings in that too where representatives of political parties will try to reach a consensus on the Rohingya issue. These sideline meetings were supposed to be attended by people from the diplomatic corps of political parties. But considering the threat posed by Awami League and representation at the conference, at one stage the government contacted a certain Humayun. According to the formula given by him, six politicians have accompanied Yunus. They will participate in some side meetings. Basically, due to their presence, the workers of the political parties will be stationed in New York so that the incident with Mahfuz does not repeat itself. The chief advisor will not be "embarrassed".
The party called BNP is keeping their Secretary General busy with a task where there are enough people in the diplomatic corps. At this moment, their party's Secretary General is needed the most in Dhaka. BNP should focus on full-scale election campaigning at this moment. Working on the next election will be a much more important task for them than the Rohingya issue. And the responsibility of Yunus's security and protecting him from embarrassing situations lies with the security forces of the host country. This is not the job of BNP or any other political party!
The party called BNP is working on the economy. It is preparing a huge policy paper. It is working on diplomacy. The party is doing everything. It is not able to do politics alone. No matter how good the BNP's policy is, it will not be of any use if it cannot feed or convince the people. Which may have an impact on the upcoming elections. The party's dedicated leaders and activists are stuck. They are waiting for the acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
A very simple demo
BNP has some excellent proposals called 31 points. But who has the time to read and understand the 31 points? Have most of the BNP leaders read and understood the 31 points? The 31 points will have an identity, a name, and branding. What are the 31 points? These 31 points should be introduced with two or three wards of BNP. Names like "Certificate of Change for the Day", "Digital Bangladesh", "Bangladesh First" should be brought into two or three wards. The impact of the 31 points on the lives of the people should be explained and explained.
According to experts, BNP does not seem to be doing anything about these. Moreover, what are those in BNP's media cell doing? What BNP is doing is distributing crores of leaflets. Banners have been put up in streets, markets and markets. In each constituency, 4/5 or more leaders are busy holding meetings and processions in groups to get nominations for the upcoming national elections. In fact, BNP is not doing anything about the elections. BNP is gradually falling behind on election issues.
To get rid of this, the party must make room for talented, young generation and those who have sacrificed their lives. The party must be united before the elections, a strong election management committee must be formed. A roadmap for the election campaign and a guideline for the candidates and supporters must be prepared. Before the elections, candidates and their supporters must go door to door to restore BNP's popularity among the people of the country. Not only that, they need to determine now which issues if taken forward at the local level, will ensure the victory of the party candidate.
It is BNP's responsibility to identify why people are now turning away from the sympathy they showed for the BNP over the past 15 years. Otherwise, if any untoward incident occurs, the BNP will have to bear the responsibility.
