> Salman Rahman admits to looting several businesses of Nazrul: Police

> Salman also used ACC as a tool to frame Nazrul

A police investigation report found that Salman F Rahman, former investment adviser to former prime minister Sheikh Hasina admitted in a statement given to the court that, Nazrul Islam, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Primeasia University and former chairman of Fareast Islami insurance Company Limited was kidnapped, removed from the organization and financially harmed.

Nazrul Islam, filed cases with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate against former Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman, alleging that he looted several of his business houses.
According to the case Salman used various government agencies to file cases against Nazrul. Several cases were also filed against him using the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC). At one point, Nazrul was forced to leave the country with his family.

Nazrul Islam filed three cases against Salman F Rahman with Gulshan Police Station after July Revolution. According to the details of those cases, during the Awami League government, the plaintiff (Nazrul) was called to the office and pressured to run the plaintiff's business as per the orders of the main defendant Salman F Rahman.

A police investigation report states that Salman admitted in a statement given to the court that, Nazrul Islam was kidnapped, removed from the organization and financially harmed.

Several other investigation reports by the Special Branch of the police have revealed information implicating Nazrul Islam in various conspiracy-related cases and taking over business establishments.

Salman took the plaintiff hostage and made him sign important documents to embezzle his money. He sent Nazrul Islam to jail by filing several false and harassment cases. Salman has also admitted to forcibly taking over all business and trade positions, including the chairmanship of Fareast Islami insurance and the chairmanship of the board of trustees of Primeasia University.

In his case statement, Nazrul Islam alleged that during the tenure of the Awami League government, Salman F Rahman summoned him to his office and attempted to pressure him into running his institutions according to Salman’s directives. Upon refusal, Nazrul claims, he was threatened with abduction, enforced disappearance and death by misuse of police power.

It is noteworthy that M. A. Khaleque (former founder Director of Fareast Islamic Life Insurance Company Limited) embezzled Tk 451 crore 37 lakh 68 thousand 166 from the company at various times. Later, with the intervention of Nazrul Islam (former Chairman, Fareast Islamic Life Insurance Company Limited), Tk 369.60 crore was recovered. A case was filed for the remaining Tk 81.77 crore.
M. A. Khaleque was furious and conspired with Salman Fazlur Rahman, the investment advisor to the then fascist Sheikh Hasina, to remove Nazrul Islam from the Fareast Islamic Life Insurance Company Ltd. Which was later implemented and he was unfairly removed from the position of Chairman of Fareast Islamic Life Insurance Company.

Nazrul further stated that after reporting the threats to law enforcers, Salman’s alleged intimidation escalated. On September 10, 2022, he was reportedly picked up from his residence by Detective Branch (DB) officials under Salman’s instructions. Following his detention, he was shown arrested in multiple fabricated cases, and under duress, control of his organizations was forcibly transferred to a new board, allegedly orchestrated by Salman and others.

On September 1, 2021, without any reason, the board was dissolved and an interim board of directors was formed. Later, two companies of the Beximco Group owned by Salman F Rahman appointed Shibly Rubaiyat chairman of Bangladesh Securities & Exchange Commision(BSEC) appointment as chairman of Fareast Islami insurance Company Limited and the former Director General of DGFI Maj Gen (retd) Mamun Khaled and jailed journalist Mozammel Babu as directors.

At the same time, an illegal board was formed with Sheikh Kabir Ahmed, uncle of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of the fallen government, as chairman and Md Ibrahim, a former secretary and friend of Sheikh Hasina, as vice chairman.

Through whom Salman F Rahman implemented his ill-intentioned plans. He illegally formed the board of directors of Fareast Life Insurance Company and unjustly removed Nazrul Islam from the board of directors.

Salman F Rahman himself sought the help of law enforcement agencies to seize the shares of Fareast Islamic Life Insurance Company in the name of Nazrul Islam. At that time, former Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Md Harun Ur Rashid filed one fabricated case after another against Nazrul Islam, despite the absence of any charges.

On the orders of DB Harun, the DB police took Nazrul Islam from his house to the DB office on Mintu Road. There, he was physically and mentally tortured to write off all the shares of Nazrul Islam's company, including his business shares.

When Nazrul Islam did not agree to their proposal, six false cases were filed against him. Salman F Rahman was behind these cases.

Nazrul Islam said that he appealed to law enforcement officials for protection. This led to the defendant Salman F Rahman and his associates becoming more violent towards Nazrul Islam. He threatened to remove the plaintiff and his family from the world, he added Nazrul Islam left for America with his family on August 1, 2021, without getting security of his life.

Nazrul tried to come to Bangladesh from America and found out that his passport had been blocked. Later, he returned to the country on December 25, 2021. The accused named in the complaint of the case spread false propaganda in newspapers to socially humiliate the plaintiff. They also stopped all the businesses of Nazrul Islam.
