Bangladesh has surpassed China in apparel exports to the United States, securing the second position in the market as of early 2026.

According to data released by the Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA) on Saturday, April 4, 2026, China’s dominance collapsed following the imposition of retaliatory U.S. tariffs, causing its exports to plummet by 57.65% to just $1.17 billion in January and February.

Vietnam has claimed the top spot with $2.7 billion in exports, while Bangladesh followed with $1.37 billion, despite an 8.53% year-on-year decline in its own shipment volume.

Overall, U.S. apparel imports from the global market fell by 13.47% during this period, totaling $11.53 billion, reflecting a broader contraction in American consumer demand amidst shifting trade dynamics
