Salman Khan eyes powerful return with ‘Battle of Galwan

Despite the much-anticipated Sikandar—starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna—not delivering the expected results at the box office, Salman’s next project had already stirred significant curiosity among fans and Bollywood enthusiasts.

Putting an end to all speculation, Salman Khan himself recently unveiled the first look of his upcoming film, Battle of Galwan, directed by Apoorva Lakhia and inspired by the 2020 military clash between India and China in Ladakh's Galwan Valley.

Salman shared the film’s first look poster on his social media, instantly igniting buzz. Donning a thick moustache and a military uniform, Salman is seen holding a coiled barbed-wire staff over his shoulder.

A fierce glint of determination burns in his eyes, while a stream of blood runs down from his forehead, tracing a dramatic line over his brows and cheeks—capturing both the grit and gravity of his character.

The film is inspired by India’s Most Fearless 3, written by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. Chitrangda Singh plays a significant role alongside Salman Khan in the film.

Inside sources in Bollywood suggest that Salman will portray Colonel B. Santosh Babu, the Indian Army officer who lost his life during the Galwan conflict.

Director Apoorva Lakhia, known for films like Haseena Parkar and the gritty Shootout at Lokhandwala, now takes on a patriotic action drama of national significance with Salman in the lead.

The announcement has already created a wave of excitement among audiences both in India and abroad.

Salman Khan has long been celebrated for his strong, masculine screen presence—a quality consistently reflected and amplified by the producers and directors he collaborates with.

Battle of Galwan appears to be a tailor-made vehicle for this very image, promising to be a quintessential Salman Khan film.

Industry insiders are even calling it “the return of Salman Khan”—a powerful comeback poised to eclipse the underwhelming reception of Sikandar.

In addition to Battle of Galwan, Salman’s future slate is packed with high-profile projects. Sequels to fan-favorite films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kick, and Andaz Apna Apna are reportedly in the pipeline.

He is also expected to team up with fellow macho icon Sanjay Dutt for an action-packed venture titled Gangaram.

Moreover, Salman is set to reunite with veteran filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya for a new family drama, a genre that played a crucial role in establishing his early stardom.

With such a diverse and promising lineup, Battle of Galwan marks not just another film for Salman Khan—but a reaffirmation of his enduring place in the heart of Indian cinema.
