Govt working to develop Jamuna economic corridor: Matia Chowdhury


Awami League Presidium Member Matia Chowdhury said on Monday that the incumbent government is working relentlessly for the development of the economic corridor of Jamuna River.

She made the remark while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled 'Jamuna River's Economic Corridor Development: Possibility, Challenges and Implementing Strategies' organised by the science and technology affairs sub-committee of Awami League at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in Dhaka.

"BNP-Jamaat alliance government didn't work for Jamuna economic corridor’s advancement when it was in state power," she said.

Matia added that the economic growth of the Jamuna Corridor was supposed to have been done years ago, but it was not completed due to the negligence of the BNP-Jamaat alliance.

"People living in the area surrounding Jamuna River are now dreaming of a better livelihood under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," said the veteran politician.

Deputy Minister for water resource AKM Enamul Haque Shamim was present at the event as a special guest. With the chairman of the Science and technology affairs sub-committee of the Awami League professor Dr Md Hossain Mansur in the chair, sub-committee member engineer Rawnok Ahsan conducted the seminar.
