Only umbrellas, prayer mats allowed at Nat’l Eidgah: DMP

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has ensured 4-tier security measures in the National Eidgah ground and has requested those who come to pray to carry nothing but umbrellas and prayer mats.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam made the request during a press briefing after observing the security measures at Jatiya Eidgah ground at 11:00 am on Sunday.

“There will be 4-tier security measures in this entire area. If it is not possible to pray at Eidgah due to adverse weather, then the same arrangement will be taken for the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram,” he added.

The entire area will be under CCTV coverage and if needed, those who come to pray will be searched, he added.

To accommodate this measure, he requested people to come to the National Eidgah ahead of time. 

A total of 1,468 Eid Jamaats will be held in the capital this year. DMP police will provide security in all of them, he said.
