Today is June 19 (Sunday) World Father's Day. This day is being celebrated in more than 111 countries of the world. A colorful rally and discussion meeting was held in front of the National Press Club at 10:30 am on the initiative of the Central Convening Committee of the Men's Rights Foundation (MRF) to celebrate the day with due dignity. The rally ended with a brief discussion in front of the National Press Club at the corner of the High Court. The rally was attended by the founder of the organization and convener of the Central Committee - Md. Majed Ibn Azad presided over as the chief guest, the advisor of the organization Professor HM Solaiman Chowdhury Sujan - Central General Secretary Bangabandhu and the National Four Leaders Council, were present as honored guests. Legal Adviser Advocate Tanvir Haider- Legal Adviser Advocate Mohammad Hanif- MA Salam Pradhan (Dada Bhai), Joint Convener- Liton Gazi, Member Secretary- Md. Yasin, Member- Journalist / Al Baru Mustakim Nibir, Imdadul Haque Milon, Obaidullah Al Abdul Basheed, Undivided Dhaka Metropolitan Member Secretary Md. Shahidul Islam Miraj, Member Mehedi Hasan Jhinuk. Gazipur district committee convener Kauser Ahmed Rubel and other prominent leaders. Note that Father's Day is celebrated in other divisional cities including Dhaka through rallies and discussion meetings. Note that the celebration of Father's Day began in the early twentieth century. In most countries of the world, the third Sunday of June is celebrated every year as Father's Day. The first Father's Day is thought to have been celebrated on July 5, 1908, in a church in Fairmont, West Virginia, USA. In this regard, a bill was introduced in the American Parliament in 1913 to declare Father's Day a holiday. In 1924, the then American President Calvin Coolidge gave his full support to the bill. Realizing the significance of this day, in 1978, the then President of the United States Lyndon B. Johnson officially declared the third Sunday in June as Father's Day. Six years later, in 1982, President Richard Nixon enacted the law, introducing Father's Day annually.
