Like any child, I long for my mother's affectionate touch: Tarique Rahman

BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is currently undergoing treatment in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) under the supervision of a medical board at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. She is receiving continuous care from both local and foreign specialist doctors.

During this critical period, BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has expressed his deep desire for his mother’s affection and touch.

Tarique Rahman shared this heartfelt message in a posted on his verified Facebook page on Saturday morning.

Tarique Rahman wrote, “In such a moment of crisis, like any child, I too have an intense longing to receive my mother’s love and touch. But unlike others, I do not have the unrestricted ability or unilateral control to make a decision in this regard.”

He added, “There is limited scope to elaborate on this sensitive matter. Our family is hopeful that as soon as the political reality reaches the expected stage, my long, anxious wait to return home will finally come to an end.”

Tarique Rahman said, “Begum Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister and leader of Bangladesh, is critically ill and under intensive care at the hospital. Citizens from all walks of life, regardless of political affiliation, have been sincerely praying for her recovery.

"The Honorable Chief Adviser has also offered prayers for her healing and expressed commitment to ensuring all necessary medical assistance," he added.
