WB highlights 'trident-shape' corridor, growing role of municipalities in BD economy
The World Bank (WB) has highlighted the formation of a “trident-shape” growth corridor in Bangladesh, and the increasing relevance of municipalities for the economy.
The industrial job growth continues to be clustered along the Dhaka-Chattogram corridor, but the trajectory has recently extended to the north, thereby forming the “trident-shape,” the multilateral development agency said in its latest update on the state of the economy.
The “Bangladesh Development Update” report was published online on Tuesday.
Small-scale industrial growth has also been highly diffused across the country, and large-scale sites continue to spread around the two biggest cities, amid efforts, even if at a slow pace, to bridge the traditional geographic divides, the report observed.
