19 nations to join junior, senior badminton events in Dhaka
A total of 19 nations will take part in the upcoming Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh Junior International Series 2024 and Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh International Challenge 2024, organized by the Bangladesh Badminton Federation (BBF).
A total of 114 male and female shuttlers from three nations -- India, Indonesia and hosts Bangladesh --will compete in the Junior International Series, scheduled to be held on 13-15 December at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Wooden Floor Indoor Stadium.
Besides, a total of 228 shuttlers from 19 nations -- India, Indonesia, Thailand, Canada, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Japan, Maldives, Ukraine, Italy, Finland, Uganda, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, England, Bulgaria, Philippines and hosts Bangladesh will take part in the International Challenge, scheduled to be held on 17-21 December at the same venue.
Bangladesh’s 55 male and female shuttlers will compete in the three-day junior competition while 61 male and female shuttlers will participate in the five-day senior competition.
Both competitions will feature five categories each – men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed.
Former national champion and BBF acting president Kamrun Nahar Dana disclosed the details in a press conference at the BOA auditorium on Wednesday.
“We are expecting good results from both men’s and women’s events. In the previous years, we achieved medals in the junior levels,” said Dana.
