Press Conference on dues deferred as Brother’s Union requests more time
A group of cricketers from last season’s Dhaka Premier League (DPL) side Brother’s Union arrived at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, intending to address the media about their long-standing unpaid dues.
Seven players gathered at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Academy premises and held a private discussion among themselves in preparation for the press conference.
However, in a sudden turn of events, the players decided to call it off after receiving a phone call from the club.
“We came here to do the press conference,” said one of the players present. “But upon our arrival, the club called us and said they need one more week. From our point of view, if they are asking for seven days, we have to give them that time. We could have gone ahead with the press conference, but since they made this request… if they hadn’t, we would have continued with our plan.”
The players have reportedly been waiting for months to receive their payments for the 2024 DPL season. They hinted that if the dues are not cleared within the promised timeframe, they may proceed with a press briefing in the coming week.
