Party launches hotline number ahead of national pollsJamaat's claim of BNP-India deal is ‘propaganda’: Mahdi Amin

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has rejected allegations by Jamaat-e-Islami that it has reached an agreement with India to return to power, describing the claim as “total propaganda”.

Mahdi Amin, spokesperson for the BNP’s Central Election Steering Committee, clarified the party's stance during a press conference at the party chairperson’s office in Dhaka's Gulshan on Saturday.

The remarks follow a speech a day earlier by Jamaat-e-Islami deputy chief Syed Abdullah Md Taher at a rally in Cumilla, where he accused a political party of "once again reaching a compromise" with India to return to power and selling Bangladesh in the process.

He told supporters that the country’s people, including 40 million young voters, will not allow it.

Responding to these claims, Mahdi noted that the Jamaat leader had cited media reports but failed to provide any evidence.

He argued that the information had no basis in reality and suggested the claims were either a political ploy or born out of ignorance.

"BNP’s politics means pro-Bangladesh politics," Mahdi said.

He maintained that the political vision of Tarique Rahman prioritises national interest, sovereignty, and the empowerment of the people.

The spokesperson pointed to the party's history of protesting border killings and demanding a fair share of water from the Teesta and Padma rivers as proof of their commitment to the nation.

He also addressed reports of a fraudulent circle demanding money from citizens in exchange for "Family Cards" and "Farmer Cards”.

Mahdi explained that while Tarique has proposed these cards to empower women and support farmers, they would be distributed entirely free of charge if the BNP forms the government.

He urged the public to inform the party or contact law-enforcing agencies if anyone asks for money for these cards.

Election Hotline

To improve communication with the people, activists, supporters and followers; BNP has launched an election hotline at 16543 and a WhatsApp service at 01806977577.

Mahdi said these channels aim to provide information on election rules, monitor voter complaints, and ensure a transparent, citizen-friendly electoral environment.

He added that many people have already used these services to resolve different issues.
